It seems as if we just really got settled in this house and now it’s time to pack it all up again. Even as much as we tend to move, and therefore as good as we are at it, I don’t like it one bit! I normally don’t even want to begin to think about it until we’ve been in one place for over a year. But this time the thought wasn’t at all intimidating, even though we moved into this house not quite ten months ago. I suppose that’s part of God’s affirmation that this move is definitely from Him!
Having said that, however, it’s still not fun, and my hope is definitely that this is the last move for a while! I get restless if something doesn’t change every now and then, but I think I’d like to exhaust every possible rearrangement option in our new house before packing up again! That could take a while!
This move is to the little delta town of Almyra, AR. The region is known for rice farming and duck hunting, and our new community is literally surrounded by farms. It will definitely be a new experience for us, but it’s a journey we’re excited to begin!
This is not a situation we intentionally sought out. God got Doug’s name to FBC Almyra through a friend. We honestly didn’t have any expectations of going there at first, but it didn’t take long for God to change our hearts and minds. We had been praying for so long for God’s clear direction in so many aspects of our lives and ministry. His answer, while very unexpected, was unmistakable and undeniable.
So, between now and next Thursday when a caravan of trucks with trailers will come to move us to Almyra, I will be packing as rapidly as possible! Which, of course, means I might not get to write as much as I’d like over the next few weeks – although I do have writing ideas floating around in my head! They might just have to come out during a necessary packing break!
>Congratulations! I hope you love the new place.
