Arkansas and other states across the south have been in turmoil in recent weeks. First the thunderstorms and tornadoes ripping through, and then the arrival of the horrific flooding. The impact in our little corner of the state was relatively mild. Even so, it’s amazing how much delight we can find in simple things after our worlds have been turned upside down and inside out.
Last Wednesday I was working both inside and outside the house getting ready for upcoming trips. As I worked, I heard a neighbor start up his lawn mower and begin to work on his yard. The more the drone of the mower continued to sound through the pleasant spring air, the more at peace I felt. It was almost an “all’s well” song to my soul.
Keeping our yards mowed is a normal, everyday thing that has been a little harder to maintain lately. With all of the rain and slow receding of even our mere two to four inches of water, it has been hard to find a chance to mow the yard. But our little town had finally come to a time when the yards had mostly dried out and the lawn mowers could be brought out.
All was well.
Have you ever noticed that there are “all’s well” signs for us spiritually as well?
~A calm voice with my children.
~The ability to process through an unexpected issue without going into a panic.
~Being unfazed by a change in plans.
~Smiles that play on my lips for no apparent reason.
Those are just some of my “all’s well” indicators. They are simple things that just come naturally when I’m resting with my Savior. These are the things that can flow no matter what the circumstances when “all’s well” for me spiritually. Little signs of precious peace and joy that can only truly come from Him.
What are your “all’s well” signs? What are the indicators in your physical life that, no matter what the chaos has been, life is now good? What about spiritually? What little things in life are indicators that “all’s well” between you and your Savior.
I pray this week will be one full of “all’s well” signs for your spiritual walk. The week may be insane. Your circumstances may be anything but “well".” But I pray that you will walk with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in such a way this week that He can show you little “all’s well” signs each day to remind you of His presence.
For no matter what else is going on, He wants you to know that when you are abiding in Him, all truly can be well.
