Victorious!

As I write this, election day is in full swing. By the time you read this, we will at least have relief from the campaigning mess even if we do not have full resolution from the election itself. In a few hours I will head to our local community center and vote. Then, I will wait – not idly, because we have a full day today. But, it will be waiting nonetheless.

Yet I wait in peace. If you know anything about me, you know I tend to be a worrier, so waiting in peace is completely contrary to my nature. It comes only from the Holy Spirit working within me, bringing God’s Word and Truth to life in my very being. When I dive into the Word of God with a heart of openness and anticipation, He gives me what I need to face every situation and circumstance. I might not even realize it as I read a passage, but later in the day it will come back to my mind and draw my attention to my Savior. Sometimes I listen better than other times, but His voice is always there.

Today as I listen, I hear this.

Whatever the Lord pleases, He does,
In heaven and in earth, in the seas and in all deeps. Psalm 135:6

Psalm 135 begins with general praise. It comes to this verse and then it pivots to a recollection of God’s mighty deeds. God does what He wants to do. He accomplishes what He wants to accomplish. No dead people voting, demands for proof of identification, computer glitches, racial disenfranchisement, or any other such voting issue or complaint from either side can even put a dent in God’s plan. He will accomplish His will. My task is to obey, the specifics of which include voting, that I may share in the joy of His victory.

And by the way, His is victorious no matter who wins this year’s election. There is no election to determine His position as King of kings, Lord of lord, Ruler of rulers (even presidents). He rules, whether we "vote" for Him or not. He rules, and He is victorious. The battle might still be raging, but He has already won. His victory does not depend on election results. His victory depends on His power. Since He is omnipotent, His power is not in question.

Whether your candidate won or lost this year, rejoice knowing God has won. If you are His, you have also won. No power on the face of this planet can change that, and nothing can touch you throughout eternity. Life on this earth might get a little tricky before you have the chance to make it to eternity, but victory has been secured.

Praise the Lord!
Praise the name of the Lord;
Praise Him, O servants of the Lord,
You who stand in the house of the Lord,
In the courts of the house of our God!
Praise the Lord, for the Lord is good;
Sing praises to His name, for it is lovely. Psalm 135:1-3

I am a homeschooling preacher's wife and managing editor for the Well Planned Gal. But, I also love to write just for the fun of it. I also process best through writing, and my thoughts tend to flow from things I learn through the Bible, interacting with my family, and moving through life in general. Thanks for joining me in my not quite ordinary journey.

What are your thoughts? I'd love to hear from you!
